Connectivity of the Fidelix System

In modern building automation, connectivity between systems is a key part of a well-functioning whole. In practice, the need often arises from wanting to monitor, report, or optimize a building’s energy consumption or indoor conditions in a separate service, such as an energy monitoring system, reporting system, or optimization service.

Typically, a third-party system needs access to the building automation data points. In the Fidelix system, this is implemented through an interface located in the cloud service, allowing the external service to read the required measurements or write control commands through a secure network connection. This solution offers several practical advantages for implementing connectivity and facilitates external systems’ access to automation data.

  • The cloud service provides external systems with one centralized location from which all controllers connected to the service can be accessed according to user access rights.

  • Connectivity to external systems can be enabled without local cabling and device registrations.

  • The cloud service automatically collects data from all data points of the controllers connected to the service and makes it available for external systems to utilize.

  • The cloud service enables connectivity to all the latest and previous-generation controllers, up to the FX-2025 models.

  • The connection between local automation and the cloud service can be implemented securely using a VPN connection device or a tunnel tailored to the customer’s needs.

Fidelix API – Public Interface for Application Developers

The Fidelix API is the public interface of the Fidelix system, enabling application developers to create integrations between the Fidelix system and external systems. Through the interface, system data can be utilized, for example, in external optimization services or transferred to external data warehouses for further processing. The interface is designed to be ready for use and is secure and maintained, which simplifies the implementation of integrations and ensures the reliability of the data.

Ready-Made Integrations Implemented and Maintained by Fidelix

Fidelix offers its own ready-made integrations from external systems to local automation. For example, weather data and electricity spot price data can be brought to a locally configured controller through the cloud service to support energy-efficient control strategies and operations. Similarly, data produced by local automation can be transferred through the cloud service to external systems, such as water consumption data for reporting and further processing.

Fidelix also provides ready-made integrations to external cloud services so that data is transferred directly from cloud to cloud without going through local automation. For example, energy consumption data can be brought into the service from external data services (Datahub, EDI messages). Measurement data from sensors installed in the premises can be read into the cloud service via an IoT service. These solutions enable centralized use of data in, among other things, the expert services provided by Fidelix.
